Symbiotic flesh garden

This is a resource for Dolmenwood by Gavin Norman (Necrotic Gnome & Exalted Funeral) - https://necroticgnome.com/pages/about-dolmenwood

One of my Mossling players is a biologist by trade. She is trying to exploit Symbiotic flesh to grow useful mushrooms on her character's shins. This is a short ark, therefore I am not too worried about long-term imbalances. This was my ruling.

To start your own Symbiotic flesh garden, you need to begin experimenting. The experimental phase needs to be done only once. It requires 3 successful wisdom checks to attempt to implant mushrooms in your own flesh. Every attempt will cost you a portion of fresh mushrooms and 2 hours of uninterrupted work.

Once passed the experimental phase, you can try to implant any kind of mushroom in your shins once a day with a wisdom check. Performing the attempt will cost you a portion of the desired kind of mushroom and one hour of uninterrupted work. Some kinds of rare mushrooms may impose a penality on the roll.

A natural 1 means that you inflict yourself 1d4 damages

A successful roll will force you to consume double rations for the day but you will collect 1d6 portions of the implated mushroom kind on the following day.

Any idea how to improve it?
